Regional Duck Breeding Farm with Hatchery, Sunamganj was established in 2005 under the Duck Hatchery Project (Phase 2). The farm is located 6 km east of Sunamganj city on 4 acres of land in Korban Nagar Union. Since its establishment, this farm has been producing improved ducklings and improved duck eggs and selling them to farmers at government prices. In addition, farmers are being trained in duck farming, vaccinated against ducks, and advised on scientific duck housing and food. This farm is working to create employment and alleviate poverty by producing quality improved ducklings and supplying them to the public.

The main water pump of the farm has been out of order for a long time.

The shed and road in the farm are in dire need of repair.

The food warehouse, generator room need to be repaired.

The electric poles need to be repaired.

Lack of advanced technology training

High food prices, disease outbreaks and the impact of climate change are some of the challenges in the development of the farm.

Obstacles to production:

After the completion of the project, due to the lack of proper manpower during the interim period of transferring the farm to the revenue budget, due to lack of proper maintenance, the hatchery machine and generator machine of the farm were damaged and the production of ducklings was stopped. When selecting a place to set up the farm, the infrastructure was built by filling the soil in the middle of this Dakuakhali haor. On the one hand, there were construction defects, and on the other hand, the infrastructure was built by filling the clay soil in the middle of the haor, which caused the soil to collapse within a short time. The road leading into the farm became impassable due to recent storms and floods.
